Transferring
your hosting to One on One Internet requires
you to do some very specific tasks to ensure
that your transfer occurs smoothly.
As the owner
of your domain name, you and only you,
are authorized to make your domain hosting transfer
happen. And every registrar handles this
process differently.
A little background
first:
Updating DNS is merely the act of updating records that are
attached to your domain registration called "name
server" records. The name server records,
in effect, tell the internet where your site
is hosted.
Your domain registration,
in most cases, remains unchanged and is not "transferred".
What really happens is that the name server
records that are attached to it are updated
to point to your new hosting company.
To point your
domain name to our name servers you will
need to notify your registrar of the new
name server information.
Some registrars
work on an email security system (like Network
Solutions). You must send them an email in
an exact format from a specific email address.
Others work on a login ID/password system,
where the changes can be made online on their
site.
Please note: Our primary and secondary nameservers are:
NS.ONEONONEINTERNET.COM and
NS2.ONEONONEINTERNET.COM
We have listed
some of the more popular registrars below
with their instructions for updating your
name server information. If your registrar
is not listed, go to their site and look
for links to "modify domain", "change
DNS", "update name servers" or
something similar.
